| NEIL LOW retired as a captain from the Seattle Police Department, where he served for fifty years. For most of the past seven years he spent his evenings as the Night Commander, in charge of all police responses to emergencies, disturbances, catastrophic situations and criminal investigations. The department selected him as its first Ethics and Professional Accountability Commander. As captain he also commanded Homicide and Violent Crimes, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Advanced Training, Internal Affairs, and Metropolitan Special Response, as well as Homeland Security. He is a Vietnam veteran and cum laude graduate of the University of Washington Bothell, where he wrote for the school paper, The UW Bothell Commons. He served two terms as a trustee to the UW Alumni Association. The University of Washington at Bothell selected Neil as the 2019 Distinguished Alumnus of the year, honoring his 50 years in police work, his fiction writing, and his continuing academic contributions. Neil is also a police consultant and operations expert. He lives in Snohomish County with his wife Leslie.
